Today marks the end of my #100DaysofFonts journey! Do a little dance, or go eat Korean BBQ. More thoughts on this project to come on the blog, but in the meantime tackling some Frequently Asked Questions about this project for posterity.

What is 100 Days of Fonts?

100 Days of Fonts is a personal creative project inspired by Elle Luna the 100 Day Project. Every day for the last 99 days, I designed and coded a combination of Google Fonts, the result of which lives on this page.

Did you really do it everyday?

Yes. Every. Single. Day. Except Day 95... I fell asleep halfway after one too many glasses of wine and woke up very disappointed.

What’s next?

Time to pick up another personal project that I’m sure will lead to more long nights and more tears. Keep in touch:

I want to be:

Taking time this weekend to think more about who I want to be and what I want to be doing 5 years down the road.

It’s so tempting for me to believe that there will be a more “appropriate” time in the future to start chasing your dreams or take risks, but really no better time than now.

In 5 years, what do you want to be?

supreme court of the united states
OBERGEFELL v. HODGES

Decided June 26, 2015

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization's oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eys of the law. The constitution grants them that right.

The judgement of the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed.

It is so ordered.

They say if your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.

Spent the day dreamin’ up dreams that terrify me and thinking about what I need to do to make them come true.

I catch myself thinking that I’m too naive, foolish, that there’s so much that stands between me and my dreams, and I should brush off my thoughts as unrealistic and silly.

But really, there’s nothing silly or unrealistic about them and nothing’s keeping me from going after what I want but my own fears. I just need to get over myself.

What are your hopes and dreams that scare you? Are you standing in your own way?

on rain

The forecast for today predicted a 40% chance of rain. I had been looking forward to this all week. Getting ready for work this morning, I was hopeful, and stuck an umbrella into my backpack.

Of course, leave it to San Francisco to disappoint when it comes to rain. I didn't see a drop of rain all day and now I'm sitting in bed looking out at a beautiful evening sky. Most days, I can't complain about the year-round, partly-sunny, 60-degree weather, but today, I find myself longing for rain.

Mostly, I miss the sounds. The sound of the early morning rain that lulls you back to sleep, the sound of thunder that makes you jump and curse, the sound of your name being called through a summer rainstorm — I miss it all.

The weather here is so quiet and there's something it that makes me feel like I'm living in a dream in which time has stopped.

This Florida girl is feeling homesick for some real rain.

“What motivates you?”

Last week, I asked each member of the creative team at my workplace to share what motivates them as a "creative." Earlier that week, I realized that I spend the majority of my waking hours with these people without knowing what gets them to show up everyday. Of course, it would be naive to think that money has absolutely nothing to do with why we do what we do, but no one brought up money once during our hour long conversation.

I'm going to dwell on this for a while.
